Take Care of Each Other World Tour

About

The Take Care of Each Other World Tour is a project under the Grassroots Economic Organizing Collective. It is a series of interviews with people engaging in cooperative principles around the country. The purpose of these interviews is to create community with people thinking similarly about our past, present, and future.

These thoughts are grounded in three principles (so far):

1.Replenishing the ecosystems around us in every aspect of our operation.

2. Honoring the maker as plural.

3. Remembering the future.

The goal of this tour was to convene people who wonder similarly. It was also to find my tribe and explore why they chose the paths that I met them on. I was looking for people who seek to shape their world instead of endure it, in a cooperative way. This included people in the fields of agriculture, architecture, engineering, and cooperative business models of all sectors. My encounters were recorded and archived at the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center at Howard University.

The final project of this tour is still forming. However, my wildest dreams are to buy a house called the Take Care of Each Other Center. This home will be a multi-purposed community center that hosts inter-generational events, provides produce, and archives the neighborhood's history. As a nomad I am still searching for a place to settle and call home, but I am eager to co-create this dream with a  community that needs me as much as I need them.
